UN to Work with Labor Ministry to Better Factory Worker Conditions

PHNOM PENH: The United Nations (UN) has expressed its full support for the priorities of Cambodia’s Ministry of Labor under the new administration and pledged to further increase cooperation to help implement shared goals.

On October 17, Minister of Labor Heng Sour met with a UN delegation led by UN Coordinator Jo Scheuer where both groups agreed on the ministry’s focus on improving the livelihoods and workplaces of factory workers while also promoting more vocational training.

The Labor Minister thanked UN and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) for supporting the Ministry of Technical and Vocational Training (TVET) and the National Employment Agency (NEA) project over the years. He expressed hope that the UNDP will increase cooperation with his ministry in the years ahead.
